About Us

Westwood Park FC offers football training and league match experience for boys and girls aged 4 to 18 in the Little Chalfont area. We aim to teach children the core skills of football, to play well as a team, to avoid the ‘long ball’ game and to have fun in a safe, friendly environment. And, while we try to give everybody a fair chance to play, we still aim to win!

NEW MEMBERS

We are always happy to accept new players but due to our success over the years, a number of our age groups are currently full with a waiting list. Full details for all age groups, including contact details and whether there are spaces or a waiting list in operation are on ‘Our Teams’ page.

Training takes place on Saturday mornings. Times do vary slightly per age group within the period (09:00 – 11:15). If you wish to join our club, please make contact through our contact us page on this website. Please do not bring your child to the park on a Saturday morning without first making contact and agreeing it with the age group manager.

Players must always wear appropriate football kit, football boots and shin pads. They should also bring a large bottle of water with them. Please check the weather forecast before attending and ensure children are dressed for the conditions (e.g. sun cream, rainwear, extra layers for cold weather).

All our age groups from U7 to U18 play league matches. Most age groups play on Saturday mornings although some of our age groups also have teams playing on Sunday mornings.

Please note that all players and parents must agree to abide by our Club Constitution and Codes of Conduct. Once you join the club, you must also fill out and return a membership form and pay the appropriate membership fee. For all these documents please click here.

YOUR CHILD’S WELFARE

Safety is a priority at Westwood Park. While we make every effort to ensure a safe environment we do require that every child has a responsible parent/carer at the park during training for the younger age groups (up until Under 13).  If someone other than the registered parent/carer (on the membership form) is taking care of your child on a specific day, please ensure that the coach knows who this is and has their name and mobile number. If you have questions on child welfare, you can contact our Club Welfare Officer Sian Tunney by selecting the subject “Child Welfare Query” on our contact us page.

AFFILIATION

Westwood Park FC is affiliated with Little Chalfont Methodist Church. Our teams play in three local leagues, the Chiltern Church Junior Football League (match days are Saturdays), the South Bucks Mini Soccer Conference (match days are Sundays; for age groups U7 to U12) and the Wycombe & South Bucks Minor Football League (match days are Sundays; for age groups U13 to U16).

SPONSORSHIP

We currently do not have a club sponsor. Between 2008 and 2014 we were very proud to have been sponsored by CLEANEVENT who provided fantastic and very generous support to our club for 7 seasons and we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Adrian Jones and all at Cleanevent. From the funds they provided, we have been able to purchase three new sets of goals and our long-awaited storage hut in the park has been fully funded from their sponsorship monies.

If you are interested in sponsoring the club in any way, please contact our Club Chairman Gary Baverstock by selecting the subject “I’m interested in being a Sponsor” on our contact us page.

CLUB HISTORY

In 2006 we started getting our kids together for a kick-about in Westwood Park every Saturday morning. It’s a wonderful place to have on our doorstep and a great way to start the weekend. Clearly a lot of families in the area felt the same way, as our numbers soon grew. Several of us passed the FA Level One coaching course because, as much as we wanted this to be fun, we were keen for the kids to learn the game properly.

By 2007 the number of children coming to the training sessions exceeded sixty, with some coming from as far away as Prestwood & Rickmansworth, encouraged no doubt by our passion and commitment. We split the kids into different age groups so that everyone would get appropriate training. It was a delight to see the development of the children and to witness their commitment and camaraderie during the winter months.

Spurred on by the success of the first season, Westwood Park Football Club (WPFC) was officially established in the local village hall on the 17th of June 2008. A management committee was elected, we chose a team kit of black and green stripes and we had a club badge designed by Martin Lee. CLEANEVENT became our club sponsor and through our affiliation with Little Chalfont Methodist Church (and the enthusiastic support of Reverend Preben Andersen) our Under 8 and Under 10 teams joined the Chiltern Church Junior League. Meanwhile our Under 7 team joined the South Bucks Mini Soccer Conference.

We celebrated our successful first season with an end-of-season awards ceremony during which every child received a commemorative trophy. In 2011 we became one of the only clubs in the area to start an U5 (for reception year children) team and in the 2016-2017 season our first age group reached U18, giving us teams across all school years. The club now has in excess of 300 registered players each season and in the 2017-2018 season we will celebrate our 10th full season as a club.
