On a deceptively cold morning, WPFC Under 10s were back in League action for the first time after taking part in the Tigers Cup Quarters Finals. However it was the visitors who made by far the brighter start and were quicker in the tackle and passing well as a team. On 2 minutes a well worked passing move saw Kings Church Thistle take a deserved lead which they held on to for the next ten minutes as we could not get our passing game going. And we may have gone further behind were it not for some solid goalkeeping from Joe and stout defending from Magnus and David.

On 11 minutes, good interplay between Joseph and Rohan gave Rohan the opportunity to pass the ball with his left into the far right hand corner of the goal for the equaliser. At half time the score was 1-1 with Rohan’s goal being scored against the run of play and Westwood Park showing signs of overconfidence and a lack of concentration.

The second half saw a complete transformation, with the team resuming the passing game that has served them well in their first full competitive football season. On 16 minutes Tom hit the post from a great pass from Rohan and one minute later scored a well taken goal with his left foot after a good pass from the left from Joseph.

On 18 minutes the score was 3-1, when Tom again hit the net with a scorcher after running on to a great ball through the middle of midfield from Magnus. Westwood Park were now fully on top in the game and two minutes later Rohan hit the post after a great one-two between Euan and Joseph. These two again combined after a midfield interception to set Joseph up to score the fourth. On 27 minutes, quick thinking from Tom stopped the ball going off the field on the right wing after a tackle, and he duly sent a good pass into the centre for Joseph to score the fifth goal. Overall, a great second half performance from Westwood Park ensured their 100% league record was maintained.
