Luke.M, Luke.S, Sam.L, Nickhil, Rahul, Charlie, James, Andrew
Another sunny morning saw us take a very good Aston Clinton side. An incredibly enjoyable game started very well with Luke.S scoring direct from a corner. Both sides created a number of very good chances and the football was excellent. James was particularly outstanding in the heart of the defence along with Nickil and Rahul’s mazy runs were causing the opposition problems. Later in the game AS scored two good goals with Westwood Park unable to convert any of the chances that came their way late on. All in a fantastic game played in a fantastic spirit from both sides.
The second game saw AS race into the lead, scoring four very quick goals whilst we appeared to be half asleep. Some excellent saves from Charlie keeping the score down. The second half however was a completely different story. Luke M. with Sam & Andrew ran the show from the middle of the pitch and Luke.S was unstoppable up front. Two superb goals from Luke S. had the come-back right on and but for some fantastic saves from their keeper we easily could have drawn level if not take the lead. Whilst pushing forwarding AS then scored another goal very late in the game
Full marks to all the players for their effort and endeavour. The football was excellent and the attitude of our players was superb. Special mention to Luke.S and Sam who were both playing up a year, who certainly did not look out of place at all.
Team 2
Goal – William, Defence – Dapo & Sam F, Midfield, Midfield – Emma (Left), Matty (Centre), Alicia (Right), Forward – Louis
Game 1
We started brightly, but concede an early goal to good play from AC. The teams were very evenly matched in football ability but AC were a far more physical side than us and conceded a lot of free kicks. From one free kick Sam made their keeper make a great save. We continued to push forward forcing their keeper into make a string of good saves from Emma, Louis and Sam, to deny us a well deserved equaliser. We passed the ball well throughout the game and our defensive tacking was first rate although William did have to make a few saves. A good game, maybe a bit to physical at times.
Game 2
In this game our wing backs Dapo and Sam started a bit higher up the pitch. This lead to us pushing the other team further back, which occasionally left us a bit exposed at the back, but Sam and Dapo covered well, producing some excellent defensive tackling. With some very slick passing from Matty and Alicia through to our forwards, we were unlucky not to have scored before Sam picked up the ball in defence and ran through the field avoiding a few over committed tackles to slot home his first of the day. In the second half more good football from both teams with Sam hitting his second, an absolute peach from outside the box on the right, into the bottom left hand corner. Alan Hanson still talking about it! A great game from both teams.
