Following the restart of the league our first of 8 games was away to St Joseph’s at Chalfont St Peter.

Westwood Park passed the ball well in the first half and it wasn’t long before Daniel R found the net after being set up by Sam J and Matthew. Daniel R quickly scored a second goal and was joined in an impressive goal celebration by Sam J- clearly something they had been working on at school. Midway through the first half Matthew hit a superb shot which the St Joseph’s goalie blocked but couldn’t catch, leaving Sam J with an easy tap in to make it 0-3. The next piece of action was a Westwood Park corner that Daniel R took and scored from the corner post, giving Daniel his hat-trick. Johnny hit another goal to make it 0-5 at half time.

The second half saw Sam J replaced up front by James who was in goal in the first half. St Joseph’s came out fighting in the second half and came close to a goal with a shot from the half way line which Sam J saved and quickly distributed allowing James to net his first and Westwood Park’s 6th goal. Within two minutes from a throw in deep in St Joseph’s half Mathew won the ball and netted with his trusted left foot, 0-7. With 5 minutes left on the clock George took the opportunity to rest some of his better players substituting Johnny, Matthew and Daniel R, replacing them with Toby, Shaylin and Oliver.

St James continued to show strong determination and scored a goal. With the clock ticking down James struck a shot, beating the goal keeper, only to see his shot cleared off the line by a St James’ defender. The Ref blew his whistle with the game ending 1-7 and Westwood Park continuing their fine form against one of the league’s stronger oppositions.
