Having trained in the rain the previous day, it was great to see sunshine again. The first match was a really even encounter. Robert scored a lovely goal early on. Westwood Park decided to keep players in their original formation for both games so Alex went in goal for this match.
Jacob and Christopher were non stop tacklers. Charlie seemed to be everywhere!
Both goalies weren’t too troubled as both teams tackled hard and most of the game was spent in the middle third of the pitch. There was some goalmouth action, but Westwood Park held out until the last minute of the second half, when a deflected shot trickled in.
Strong performances from all the players particularly Charlie. No one got past him.
Top Pitch – Match 2
Probably a step up for Westwood in this game. Their opponents passed the ball well and one player particularly showed almost Messi like dribbling. Nevertheless, Westwood had their moments and Sam worked tirelessly covering almost every blade of grass on the pitch. Lucas had his first start in goal and produced some fine stops. Arjan made some very important interceptions. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, Westwood could not breach their opponents defence. A couple of late counter-attacks produced goals for their opponents, but Westwood never gave up trying. Their commitment was excellent.
Alex and Robert played very well.
Squad; Alex (GK game 1), Lucas (GK game 2), Sam, Charlie, Jacob, Arjan, Christopher and Robert

Bottom pitch – Match 1
The first match of our third fixture this season against GX & Fulmer was another close affair although 3 goals from Luke in the first 5 minutes and a further 2 from Charles flattered us a little. Gerrards Cross passed the ball really well and were unlucky not to be rewarded with more goals. Matthew had little to do in the first half but Luke, in goal for the second half, was kept much busier. We also played good football, with some good passing particularly from Kaushal and Matthew. Kian and Aaron ran well with the ball and Joe made his usual number of tackles.
Bottom pitch – Match 2
The second game was as close as the first. Again the GX team passed the ball very well and only excellent defending from Alfie, Joe, Luke and Kaushal in particular and very tidy goalkeeping by Charles and Aaron prevented them from scoring. Alfie was everywhere in the second game, breaking up attacks and moving forward with purpose. Kian once again got stuck in with several good runs and tackles. Luke scored in the second half before GX put us under pressure right to the end from several corners.
Squad: Charles (Gk game 2), Matthew (Gk game 1), Joe, Alfie, Luke (Gk game 1), Kian, Kaushal and Aaron (Gk game 2)
