Squad Goal. Alex W. – Defence . Charlie & Alex J – Mid. Robert, Jacob Adam – Striker. Sam

The first game got off to what looked like a good start with lots of passing from Charlie and Alex in defence through to the midfielders, but we were unlucky to concede a really early goal that only just went over the line before attempting a clearance. Adam played really well in this game and made some lovely turns with the ball to then dribble forward with real determination. In fact we nearly scored when he passed the ball to Sam upfield only for his shot to go just wide. We came under a lot of pressure again and got caught by letting in two strikers behind our defence for another goal. We still played well with some great throw ins and corners where the boys decided themselves to do short ones and drive into the goal area. Sam landed awkwardly and picked up an injury in the second half and were defeated at the end with a couple more goals.

Game two had Sam in Goal making some great saves straight away with Alex W. and Charlie picking up midfield enjoying being upfront. We played some really good football with one particular move started by Jacob in defence with a short pass to Alex W. taking the ball up to the centre who then picked out Adam on the left wing and after a short run made a great pass to Robert who then ran past the mid fielders only to go out behind the goal. It was great football with great passing from one end to the other, just what we want to see. Alex Walker enjoyed being on the right midfield and after being in goal had lots of energy to run the ball and kept driving the game upfield. When it did come back Alex J. determined as he always is with vocals too ran his heart out to get to the ball first and made some knockout clearances. It just wasn’t to be our day though and It was a heavy defeat in this game but the way the boys played was admirable. They never gave up and stayed determined throughout the whole game without letting the frustration get to them and kept their heads up. After a pep talk we all agreed it happens in football (Arsenal was mentioned, apologies fans) and was a good learning process.

Well done boys

Martin
