AFC Lightning Fixture

Squad – Sam L. Luke S. Chris M. Chris P. Archie. Alfie. Alex J. Gabriel. Kian

The first game got off to a really fast start with our boys taking the game to them straight away. The ball was passed around in their half with lots of confidence when Sam had the first shot on goal only to hit the post. Alex J and Alfie had their work cut out as the ball was straight back in our own half but made some great tackles to get it back upfield where Archie weaved the ball to Luke who scored our first goal. From the kick off they managed to get past our defenders but Chris M, who is maturing as a great goalkeeper, made a great diving save quickly throwing out to Alex. We kept the pace up with Alex passing upfield again and soon rewarded with a corner. Luke hit it right into the middle where it was knocked in for an own goal. It wasn’t too long before they got a goal back but was then followed by another great goal from Luke and then a lovely dribbling goal from Sam.

The second game was a very exciting game with real end to end football. This team was stronger and put pressure on as soon as the whistle blew. Alex J. was so strong in defence they couldn’t get past him and Chris P was clearing with the strongest right foot. We had to keep this game really tight and after instructing them to hold positions they got the idea. Kian on the right wing was making some lovely runs and dribbled the ball up to cross it into Alfie who managed to hold it with enough time for Luke to position himself for a great shot just wide. Again it came straight back with a long goal kick into our own half where Gabriel made a great clearance over our goal (phew.) The boys held it really tight for the corner as it stayed in our area for an eternity. It just wouldn’t go out and they got the shot in only to hit the post rebounding for Chris P to get yet another great clearance. It was back in again but this time Archie in goal caught the ball tightly threw it to Kian for another lovely pass to Alfie all the way up to the goal area again only for it to go wide from Sam. I was glad the final whistle blew although there were no goals it was the best game they’ve played even the parents blew a sigh of relief.

A great team game

Well done all the boys.

Martin
