Having narrowly beaten Marlow United in the league cup just before Christmas we knew that this would be a close fought encounter.

Coaches:Paul & Adam

Squad: Charles, Kian, Guy, Gabriel, Aakash, Akshay, Sachin & Luke B

Match 1

I arranged the squad into positions which I thought they were best in, just so we could get off to a good start. Although for some, the positions given were not their favorite they showed what great versatile players they are.

We started well, keeping a high line and possesion. Kian started in goal supported by Aakash & Akshay on either side of him. They showed great determination and understanding of the game by defending well but also getting into the right positions when the team were on the attack. Gabriel was in the centre playing part defender part midfielder as he has such energy. Guy and Charles were in midfield attacking down the wings. And that leaves Sachin who was the powerhouse up front. Sachin’s desire was second to none and was a real pleasure to watch. It wasn’t long before he slotted one home. Just before the break Marlow equalised.
Luke B joined us in the second half with Guy taking a well deserved rest. The rest of the team stayed as they were. We kept the ball well and held our positions. For once I was not shouting at my defenders to get back and why would I when I have Aakash and Akshay! Although Kian did not have much to do his distribution from throw outs was great. About 5 minutes before the end Luke B had hold of the ball well outside the area and unleashed a fantastic shot which was deflected into the goal (would have went in without the assistance).

Match 2

Akash went in goal for this game and Kian up front. It wasn’t long before I noticed that this was obviously the stronger of the two teams. Again tinkering with the team putting Luke B and Guy in defence proved how good these boys are in knowing there positions and adapting to them. Akshay took control of the central defender/midfielder role with Charles and Sachin on the wings. Charles managed to hit the post twice in the first half with the game going from one end to the other. Then after a good bit of pressure from us and Kian’s grit and determination in the box we scored.
In the second half Marlow started to play some good football but with Gabriel and Guy putting in some well time tackles Marlow struggled to have a shot on goal. Akshay went in goal for this half and done well. It’s good to know that we have several players we can rely on for goalkeeping duties. With the clock ticking and the team playing some good football I could not see Marlow scoring until a fine cross came in from the right and an even better connection saw them score. I must say it was an outstanding finish.

Well done boys, you were disciplined throughout.

Cheers Paul & Adam

Squad: Luke S, Robert W, Archie, Sam, Aaron, Milan, Chris P, Charlie

Match 1

A very tight game against probably the better of the two Marlow sides resulted in a narrow defeat by the odd goal in three, although we were unlucky to lose.

Match 2

We raced into a first half 4-0 lead as Archie (2) and Sam (2) repeatedly capitalised on Luke’s hard work down the left flank. Archie particularly found good space going forward, getting on the end of Luke’s penetrating crosses and passes. However, the first half was not all one way traffic with Robert in goal having to make 4 or 5 high quality saves and interceptions. His aggressive goalkeeping style along with his positional sense made him impossible to beat. The second half was much closer, with Marlow scoring two deserved goals before Sam completed his hat trick. Robert scored right at the end; a deserved reward for another fine all round performance.
