Team: Alex W Arjan Alex J Fionn Lucas Kaushal Joe Charlie Sam

Match 1 v Sarratt

Our first match saw us up against Sarratt. They are a small club that only have one team which meant there were only going to be 3 matches instead of the usual 4. It was a gloomy cold day so we had to ensure the boys kept warm when not playing. The game started well with some free flowing football. You could see early on that Sarratt were a good team helped by the fact that their players always play together. It wasn’t long before we were a couple of goals down to some very good finishing. Alex J, Arjan and Fionn were doing their best to hold the fort with Joe and Charlie pushing up when we got the break. Alex W stood no chance against two more great shots just before half time. A positive half time team was given to try and lift the boys. It certainly worked well as we kept a clean sheet in the second half and had a few shots on goal.

Match 2 v Flackwell Heath

In this game we had to call on the help of Sam as Charlie was feeling unwell. We started well with several shots on goal either well saved or just missing the post. Alex J was playing out of his skin with some darting runs out of defence. Lucas is improving all the time as his energy levels, strength and ball skills are all at a high standard. He troubled their defence with some great runs down the wing. Fionn and Arjan held their positions and protected our goal which left Alex W with little to do. Kaushal was providing Sam with some accurate passes up front and his movement off the ball was very good. Joe worked hard in supporting up front as well as in defence. Alex J and Sam both went close and could have scored with a little more awareness of passing options rather than trying to take on the whole opposing team on their own. A game which we should have easily won was nearly lost right at the end when Flackwell had one of their only chances just going wide of the post.

Apart from the first half of the first game I thought the boys played well together and definitely deserved more from the day. Well done boys!
