Squad: Stuart, Daniel, Leo, Aidan, Patrick, Ollie, Callum
Subs: Hargun, Bari, Matthew, Charlie, James

This was our first game as Westwood Park Wolves in the Chiltern Church league, against the Holy Trinity Gunners. We drew the match 2-2 after leading for much of the game. It was a really fantastic first effort from the kids, who were all really eager and enthusiastic to get on the pitch and play. There were some great performances and the kids worked really well together as a team. We kept our shape pretty much throughout (apart from the end when we conceded the two late goals) and only the skills of a talented No.7 from Holy Trinity denied us our win!

I thought our defence were excellent for most of the game, rarely letting the opposition near our goal (aside from the aforementioned No.7). Daniel stood up to everything that came at him and proved to be a little rock in the heart of our defence. Our whole midfield ran their socks off, and in particular when helping the defenders. They worked really hard and all seemed to grasp the concept of helping their team mates both in attack and defence. And speaking of attack, I think a little mention should go to Callum, who scored both our goals and who didn’t stop running all the time he was on the pitch (and off it!). But all in all I was really pleased with the performance of all the kids. Their enthusiasm was fantastic to watch.

I think we can take a lot of pride (as well as a lot of knowledge!) from our first performance.
