United Rally Falls Just Short

This was a really competitive local derby played on a wet pitch and ultimately edged by a strong well organized Rangers team.

After a quick start Rangers scored 3 goals without reply, the first skilfully worked down the left, the second from a corner and the third from long range with Ryan out of position caught out in the soggy conditions. United had their chances with Craig hitting the bar and having a shot cleared off the line from Magnus`s fine pass. The game was always even and eventually Craig picked himself up to pull one back from the penalty spot.

Kicking downhill in the second half the game turned as United dominated. Ben nodded in Ollie`s floated corner and shortly after Fergus stood over a penalty poised to level the game. He struck it to the keeper`s right mid height , but it was well saved. Surely another chance would come…. Magnus struck the post as he bolstered midfield and the boys never gave up, but in their desperation they lost some organization and discipline.

This was a great disappointment after last week. Sometimes the boys overplayed trying to do too much on their own and not playing the easy pass. So there is much to work on, but with more focus and concentration they will get back to winning ways.
